The consequences of the issues to the environment.

There are several effects of the food waste and end hunger especially to the environment.Almost more than half percent of the waste take place throughout “upstream” or also known as production, yield grasp and storage phase and the remaining waste happens during processing, dealing out and utilization stages or the “downstream”. We can say that the greater food loss regions during the consumption phase were the middle and higher income regions. Due to lack of proper harvest methods and infrastructure, developing countries were more often to waste food at the production phase. The greater the food wasted the greater it’s environmental imprint. This is due to we have to take into account the energy and the natural raw materials disburse in processing, shifting, storing and cooking it.
On the other hand, large amount of methane produced because of the food waste that ends up in landfills. Methane is considered a most powerful greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. In term of scientific theory, the greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide and chlorofluorocarbon imprison the infrared radiation and heat up the earth’s atmosphere, which is at last causing global warming and climate change. We can relate the food waste to the great waste of fresh water and underground water resources. For instance, nearly 1000 litres which is 1 millilitres of water are wasted you pour one glass of milk down the drain because at the end somehow the river water will mix with the drain water which is already contaminated with the milk.

There are several sectors which affect the environment in many different ways as agriculture is one of the main sector which affects the environment through its impacts on ecosystems, land cover and on regional and global cycles of water, nutrients as well as carbon. The emission of greenhouse gases in atmosphere and reduction of carbon storage in vegetation and soil by the agriculture contributes to climate change in our world. The largest emitter of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere is the global food system which it contributes nearly one-third of the total to the atmosphere.
