I think the evidence Bird uses is ineffective because her statistics are outdated since they are from 1975. I think nowadays, you are most likely to be making more money with a college degree than a highschool diploma. Because of the economy there are a lack of jobs available, therefore getting a job can be very competitive. With that extra knowledge, getting a job can be a bit easier compared to someone getting a job with a high school diploma.
the evidence that Bird uses is effective because I find it true that many people believe they have to go to college. It’s not because they want to but mainly the idea that they have to in order to succeed in life. Many students also have the idea that it is the place they have to be, similar to the idea in history that women belonged in the home.
