I think that Golding made Simon the type of character who is quite shy and looks vulnerable to the rest of the group because of that but deep down they are intelligent, aware of their surroundings and help out when they feel the need to. He is seen as the type of person who likes to keep to themselves. Though he seems very shy, around the middle of the book, he decided to go searching for the beast, whilst keeping that choice to himself but in the end he ended up losing his life. Other than that, Simon is a nice person because when Jack was sharing portions of meat to everyone and didn’t give Piggy, Simon offered some of his meat to him – “Simon, sitting between the twins and Piggy, wiped his mouth and shoved his piece of meat over the rocks to Piggy, who grabbed it.” (Pg 78) This just shows how nice Simon is because obviously Jack intentionally didn’t give Piggy some meat but Simon decided to not only give Piggy some meat but give him his own portion as well. Over all, I think that Simon is one of those people who you would think are quite anti-social until you actually meet them.?
