Facebook is a networking site, which connects people all over the world. Facebook was launched on February 4th, 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his fellow Harvard college students, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. He first made a site called Facemash for Harvard students. As Facemash was getting more and more attention, Mark changed the name to Facebook and opened it to the other universities. Finally, in 2009 Facebook was open globally to anyone thirteen and older. Facebook is one of the most common social website that connects people with their friends and family in our current day and time. Facebook is very unique and allows good opportunities for all, Facebook is, just like anywhere on the internet where free speaking is allowed, a breeding ground for cyberbullying.
Facebook has a unique way of sharing information, including news feeds, photos, and a contact between people, which makes it very popular. Facebook allows you to be able to contact anyone no matter where they are in the world. Once you and that person have an internet connection you are able to chat. This site is the second most used website in the world and has an online traffic of about 900 million across the world. This website is not only a platform for networking but is also useful in bettering education, making news more accessible, advertising and promoting businesses.
Even though there is all this good about Facebook there has to be at least some bad and that is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying can and does take place on every popular social media app. Whether someone is making fun of you by talking to you, calling you names, or posting embarrassing pictures or videos about you, this is all types of cyberbullying. There will always be the immature, ignorant people that make fun of people but do not understand the seriousness of the situation. Some people take it so far that the victim of this cyberbullying is overcome with pain and hate and does some bad things even like taking their own life.
